Access All Areas Film Festival 2010 - ARCHIVE

Picture
In 2010 the festival toured once again across NSW. Visiting the Cities of Wagga Wagga, Orange, Sydney and for the first time Parramatta, as part of its tour.

Presenting 2 wonderful Australian productions: HAPPY FEET and SUMMER CODA, the 2010 festival was a huge success in each of the cities it visited.
From the success of the previous year the festival extended its tour across schools, reaching children with and without a disability, increasing access to films and raising awareness of access services for the visually and hearing impaired.

16 schools were visited in 2010, presenting a specific program of Australian short films targeted at a young audience.

Access All Areas Film Festival 2009 - ARCHIVE

In 2009 the festival visited the Cities of Wagga Wagga, Orange and Sydney, presenting audio described and open captioned screenings. We were pleased to be screening fantastic Australian new features: THE BOYS ARE BACK and MY YEAR WITHOUT SEX, to a large audience of people with a disability.

For the first time, the festival introduced a program of short films targeted at a young audience, to 4 schools in the Sydney region. The short films were also captioned and audio described, and screened before over 200 children.
That year, gathering people from the film industry as well as advocates of accessibilities issues,  we hold our first panel discussion " WILLING AND ABLE - Making cinema accessible", creating a voice for people with a disability to express their frustration and concerns about the existing - or lack-of - accessible services in cinemas and films.

Panel discussion, screenings and reception took place on International Day of People with a Disability, December 3rd 2009 at Dendy Opera Quays, Sydney.

2008 is the year of the launch of the festival!
Eager to create an event which would increase access for people with a disability, in consultation with organisations, people and community groups, we create the first edition of Access All Areas Film Festival.

For its first year the festival visited the cities of Lismore, Merimbula, Glendale, Dubbo, Waga Wagga and Sydney, presenting a fully accessible program of Australian feature films. Screening that year were the features: "All my friends are leaving Brisbane", "Cactus" and "The Castle" as well as acclaimed and Award winning Short Films: Yolk, Hamish and The Whisper Stop.

On December 3rd 2008, the festival celebrated International Day of People with a Disability at Dendy Opera Quays Cinema in Sydney.
